Numerical analysis on load-settlement response of reinforced granular blanket over ordinary stone column

Stone columns are a more economical and efficient method to enhance the strength of expansive soils. Using granular blanket over top ordinary stone (OSC) improves drainage distribution applied stress impending from superstructure. The present study studied effect geogrid layers in (GB) OSC numerically using 'PLAXIS 2D'. 'Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion was deliberated for column, blanket, soil, elastoplastic behavior is considered as reinforcement. Present review results validated with experimental agree greatly. Numerical show that construction GB layer column increases transformation depth OSC. Thus 'stress concentration' decreased higher zone Likewise, assessing impact on 'bearing capacity settlement OSC, it observed reduces lateral bulging, ground's bearing capacity.
